Acupuncture,, and reflexology charts demonstrate how the ear reflexes coordinate with the organs in the body.
If going out into the cold immediately following an Ear Candling, it is advisable to place cotton in your ears.
Why Beeswax?
Many people still use paraffin ear candles (paraffin is a petroleum product) in ear candles. We do not use any paraffin whatsoever in our ear candles, only natural beeswax.
Ear Coning is a very relaxing process, which allows the whole body, to feel relaxed.
How does it work?
The cone works by lighting the large end not the end placed in the ear ,then placing the small end of the cone to the ear canal, give a gentle twist once candle is in the ear to create a seal. The smoke travels into the ear canal, warming the ear canal, softening the ear wax. The heat creates a vacuum which pulls debris and ear wax into the cone.

The Ear Wax Problem
Where Does it Come From?
The outer ear is the funnel-like part of the ear you can see on the side of the head, plus the ear canal . The ear canal is shaped somewhat like a funnel narrowing on the way down. The outer part of the canal has special glands that produce earwax.
What Does it Do?
The ear canal produces a waxy oil called Cerumen. This protects the ear by trapping dust, micro organisms. This prevents them from entering and damaging the ear. The wax makes its way to the opening of the ear where it falls out or is removed by washing. Ear wax is natures defense against dust and sand particles. Ear wax is effective in keeping particles from reaching the eardrum.
Usually the wax accumulates a bit, and then dries up. Normal movements of the head cause the dried wax and trapped particles to come tumbling out of the ear. Or it may slowly migrate to the outside where can be wiped off with a cotton swab.
Wax is formed only in the outer part of the canal. So when an individual has a wax blockage or an accumulation it is often because he has been probing his ear with items that shouldn't be used. Objects only serve as ramrods to push the wax into the ear canal .
Serves a Purpose
Earwax is healthy in normal amounts. The absence of earwax may result in dry, itchy ears.
But Too Much is Not Good
In some people, the glands produce more wax than can be easily excreted out the ear. This extra wax may harden within the ear canal and block the ear. More commonly, the ear canal may be blocked by wax when attempts to clean the ear push wax deeper into the ear canal and causes a blockage. If you would like to learn more research your local library for further information on ear wax. Most medical books or nursing books give good information. Always research your interests to be aware of what you are doing.
Ear candles are about 12 inches long, made with 100% unbleached cotton, rolled into a slender, hollow cone & dipped in wax. The narrow end of the cone rests against the opening of the ear canal; the wide end is burned like a candle.
Ear candles made of beeswax which contains some honey. I always buy my wax from a local source to insure freshness. With the use of beeswax the fragrance of the wax seems to calm one down, sometimes putting a person to sleep. I would say that in it self is worth the experience.
While the narrow end of the cone rests against the opening of the ear canal, the wide end is burned like a candle. The burning of the ear candle creates a gentle vacuum which lifts matter & debris from the ear canal. Ear wax & debris collect on the cooler inner surface of the candle. Each candle burns about 20 minutes to 30 minutes
*Do Not candle anyone who has had a perforated eardrum.
Supplies You Will Need:
- 2 or more ear candles
- a bowl of water
- a sharp knife
- a bamboo skewer or metal knitting needle
- Q-tips, cotton balls
- paper plates
- paper napkins
- a plastic bag (to dispose of waste)
- matches, lighter or candle
Trim the wick as needed, usually at about the 1/2 way point. Hold the plate firmly and snip the candle with the scissors being careful that the ash falls onto the plate.
Remove the candle , turn the plate on its side over a bowl of water, and push the candle from the unlit end into the water. You may wish to cut the remaining unburned part of the candle open to see the debris. Always remember that not everything in the candle came from your ear. In fact most of it does not, but this does not mean that the candling does not work, it just simply means that you are not going to know for sure just what is coming out of the ear unless you send it to a lab.
